The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is a proposed amendment designed to provide equal rights to citizens regardless of sex on the U.S Constitution, orginally proposed in 1923. At this moment, the amendment has achieved a 3/4 threshold of state votes; however, it is still an uphill battle for constitutional ratification.
