Black History Month

February 1, 2021

Sisters, Brothers, and Kin —

Throughout our history Black and Brown Sisters, Brothers, and Kin have been overshadowed, underrepresented and /or lacked the recognition they deserved for their contributions in entertainment. And as an organization we recognize that the time is now to implement robust change.

For Black History Month and beyond, we will be sharing their stories, amplifying their voices, and honoring the magnitude of their influential work and unyielding dedication to the union and entertainment industry.

To help us celebrate Black History Month, we invite you to honor our Black and Brown members on your Local’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with a headshot of the member and a caption honoring their efforts, using the hashtag #IATSEDiversity

Here are a few ways you can submit these pictures for use on the IATSE social media and the Official Bulletin:

1.   Post photos to social media using the #IATSEDiversity hashtag

2.   Submit photos securely through our new “Voices” by ActionSprout app (Download the app at

3.   Email photos to the Communications Department at

While IATSE is the backbone of entertainment, we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the greatness, brilliance, and leadership our Black and Brown Sisters, Brothers, and Kin bring to the IATSE family.

We are a great union but with the commitment from our local unions and the membership, together we can become a better union and evoke measurable change.

We look forward to your submissions!

In Solidarity,

IATSE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee
