IATSE Pride Town Hall – 5/8/20

With the world currently in lockdown due to the pandemic, it can be incredibly stressful and lonely for us, whether we’re unemployed, or employed and working remotely. The IATSE Pride Committee acknowledges the difficulties and isolation that our members may be experiencing. However, we believe that physical isolation does not have to equal social isolation. To that extent, we are going to begin a series of IATSE Pride Town Halls. The goal is to hold one Town Hall approximately every second Friday for as long as there is interest. Some may be more of a casual get-together, and others will be more structured, with planned topics and guest speakers.

Although it’s coming up fast, we want to connect as soon as possible, therefore, our inaugural  IATSE Pride Town Hall will take place this coming Friday, May 8th at 2:00pm Eastern (11:00am Pacific) for approximately one hour. It will be a casual, relatively unstructured event to gauge interest. We’d like to hear from you, our members, regarding what topics you’d like to discuss in future Town Halls. Who has active Pride Committees, what issues, concerns or problems you’re facing and what education or information would be helpful; all through an LGBTQ+ lens. In the spirit of inclusivity, we are welcoming both members who self-identify as LGBTQ+ as well as allies to our community. There is no requirement to identify which category you fall under, so no one will feel as if they have to out themselves to participate. We also have made the conscious decision to not record any of the sessions, in order to encourage an open and honest dialogue.

For each session we will have a maximum of 100 spots. If you are interested in attending the first session on May 8th, please fill out the registration form here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_WAechE83TrKc_E-TODeFmg. Once accepted, you will be sent a Zoom link that can be used to join the webinar.

We are excited to see everyone and can’t wait to hear some of the Pride-related interests and concerns of the membership!

In Solidarity and Pride,
