Mental Health First Aid Virtual Training

Mental Health First Aid is a training course that gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem, or experiencing a crisis, and help connect them to the appropriate care.

The course is delivered in two parts. The first is a 2-4 hour self-paced online course that must be completed at least 12 hours prior to the second part which is a 6 hour virtual live instructor led session. You will receive an email from at least one week prior to the class date (possibly sooner) with your log-in information which will give you access to the self-study portion. Please be sure to whitelist

Please note that registration closes 3 days before a class as it takes at least 24-36 hours for you to be entered into the National Council’s Learning Management System and assigned a log-in so you can do your pre-work. Please do not sign up for a class just 3 days before if you will not be able to complete the pre-work in the short time frame left prior to the class.

Upon completing the course you will receive a three-year certification as a Mental Health First Aider. If you’d like more information on the training, please click here.

IATSE Members and those working under IATSE agreements may be eligible for Training Trust Fund reimbursement upon proof of successful completion.

A limited number of partial and full scholarships are available to individuals not eligible for reimbursement. Click here to complete the scholarship application. If you reside in Canada, training is available through the AFC at
