From Brother Tom Pusateri:

It's with an exceptionally heavy heart that I share with everyone the sad news regarding our dear Brother Edward T. Mack. Ed departed from us earlier this morning after some recent health challenges. Ed was initiated into IATSE Local 769 on November 10, 1992  He was a longtime and well respected Dresser for Principal Artists at Lyric Opera of Chicago for over 40 years, from 1975 until 2016. He was 83 when he finally retired. Ed even appeared on stage in the early years as a Supernumerary. He had an amazingly unique recollection of operatic history as well as one-of-a-kind stories about legendary backstage folklore. He worked directly supporting some of the biggest names in this industry. Many of you are also aware of his other tireless passion, collecting artifacts. He was a well known regular fixture at many of Chicago's leading...as well as not so fine auction houses! He had a flair for collecting both one of a kind artwork as well as furniture inventory that he would distribute to various antique gallery vendors.

Deepest sympathies to the MANY of his LOC family members who have shared and supported Brother Edward through his recent challenges; especially his recent dedicated caregiver, Brother Scott Barker.

We thank you, Brother Edward for the time, talents, wisdom, humor, as well as many legendary operatic stories that you shared over your lengthy tenure at Lyric and elsewhere. You have taught so much to so many. For this and everything else we are most grateful. Cheers and Toi toi toi to you, Brother Ed!
